Established in 2002, the PTG constitutes the entire parent and teacher community. The aim of the group is to harmonise the work being done by both groups to achieve a high quality learning environment for the children. The PTG elects a committee annually, who meet with representatives from the school on a monthly basis. These meetings serve the purpose of sharing information; planning activities; raising concerns from either group and discussing future plans. The minutes of meetings are published for the parents to see and regular bulletins are sent home to keep parents up to date with the work of the committee.

In 2003, the PTG adopted a constitution to annunciate their mission and strategies. The mission of the PTG is to work together for the common good of the student body and to foster goodwill amongst parents, teachers and friends towards our school.

There are many ways in which the PTG works for the good of the school community including:

  • Welcoming new families
  • Fund raising activities
  • Social events for parents and teachers
  • Discussion groups for parents and teachers

St Andrews International School, Bangkok, operates an open door policy for parents to ensure that communication about individual children and general school activities and development is maintained. Many of the parents support classes by hearing reading, helping with art activities, accompanying classes on excursions and supporting open days and whole school celebrations. The PTG is included in planning for whole school events such as International Day, Loy Kratong, Open Days, Christmas parties and fun days; they also help organize external agencies to help with these events.

An active parent body enlivens our school and enables us to foster a friendly and supportive relationship between families and staff. The PTG's work has helped us to supplement the social element of school life as well as contribute to purchasing musical instruments, play equipment and additional library resources.
